Cleanings and Exams
Having a dental practice perform a checkup and regular cleaning gives a preventive approach to dental care. These general dentistry treatments help prevent problems with your teeth, gums and jaw bones, or they catch and manage problems before they worsen. During your visit, our doctors will take a picture of the current standing of your dental health and what would be needed to keep your oral hygiene in its best state.
Root canals are needed when decay and bacteria have spread within a tooth for too long without treatment. After a while, the infection will make its way into the pulp within your tooth which contains nerves that can cause a lot of pain if infected. Since the infection is happening within the tooth, you won’t necessarily see the damage, but instead will feel it or notice other signs such as bleeding, swelling, and bad breath.
Here at Thomas M. Kiefer, DMD, we are proud to offer porcelain crowns and caps for our patients. Getting porcelain crowns is the best way to have a very natural looking smile. They are used when simply filling in a tooth is not an option. There are times when the decay is so bad that we just have to use a porcelain crown. We also use them with severely damaged teeth or teeth that have already had multiple fillings.
Removable dental replacements, or dentures, are a common service that we provide for our clients. We provide both complete dentures (for when all teeth are missing) and partial dentures (for when some teeth are missing).
We are proud to offer dental implants for our patients. Dental implants are roots placed in your mouth for either permanent teeth to be placed on or ones that you can remove.
